Green Schools has been in operation at KTCS since 2011 and we have developed the program with many of our students continuing with this program into 3rd Level. Approx 450 students would have participated in this program over the last 9yrs , we are coming up to our 10th birthday so we will be celebrating in the near future.

The Green schools have been working for the past 2 years on attaining our travel flag. This flag involves reducing carbon emissions from travel and encouraging students to cycle or walk to school.
- We have had a number of guest speakers including Mr Hayes who spoke to us about cycling and a representative from Mercedes who brought an electric car down to the school for us to discuss.
- We held competitions with each year group where those who cycled to school would be entered into a raffle.
- We put up posters throughout the school to encourage public transport, carpooling, walking and cycling.
- We had a speaker from Kildare County Council who spoke about global warming to the whole school.
- We conducted a cycle audit of the cycle lanes in Kildare Town. We worked with the Tidy Towns and picked up litter from all the approaches to the school.
- We also plan to plant a tree in the school grounds this year and go on our green school walk.
