I am excited to share some news about the KTCS Ultimate Frisbee competition! Over the past few weeks, a group of talented 5th-year and TY girls have been working hard to prepare for this exciting event.
These students, including Holly McCann, Ciara McWey, Amy Moore, Emma Dowling, Chloe Glynn, Aoife Delaney, Ella Monahan-Galvin, Aisling McKeever, Isabelle McBride, Sarah Connelly, Hannah Murphy, Amelia Sobkowicz, Anna Kaye, Ella Gilroy, Aoife O Leary, Emma Behan, Lily McGrath, Abby Callan, Katie Clarges, Ruby Stynes, Jaimee Daly, Ella Kirke, Lauren OBrien, and Caoimhe Kelly, have represented the school with distinction at KTCS's very first Ultimate Frisbee competition.
For those who may not know, Ultimate Frisbee is a fast-paced, non-contact sport where the objective is to catch the disc in the opponent's end zone to score points. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. It's a fun and challenging sport that promotes inclusiveness.
One of the main focuses of the sport is great sportsmanship, which is evident in how the students approach the games. After each match, opposing teams come together to form a circle and the captain of each team takes turns to thank their opponent, congratulate them on their performance, and provide feedback. This shows respect for the opposing team and gives all the students a chance to practice their leadership and communication skills.
