All 6th years who have applied to the CAO should have received a statement of application record from CAO detailing a summary of applicant information. If there are any errors or omissions on this form, CAO should be notified immediately.
The CAO online Change of Mind facility opens in early May and closes on 1st July at 5:15pm - restrictions apply (see page 3). You can use the online facility as many times as you like to add, remove or re-order your courses for no extra charge until the 1st July at 5:15pm.
If you submit a Change of Mind, it cancels and supersedes all previous course choices in any category in which changes are made.
Apprenticeships that are currently being advertised include Tegral, Athy, Maintenance Fitter apprenticeship in Pfizer and IT Technician- www.fit.ie- fully paid 2 year programme at level 6.
Students with an Irish exemption must ensure they have notified NUI of this by downloading the form from the NUI website, filling in the correct details with the school stamp and posting it to NUI.
Students going to college in September with a credit union account intending to apply for the Chris Kelly Credit Union College Bursary should do so at Kildare Credit Union.
5th Years
Higher Options
Fifty 5th years entering 6th year in 2018 have the option of attending the Higher Options Conference in Dublin on September 12th. Tickets must be paid for before the end of the academic year.
The Irish Times Higher Options is one of Ireland’s biggest student events and has become an annual fixture on the Education calendar. Over 180 colleges, universities and institutes of further education are expected to take part in the exhibition this year, and thousands of students from all over the country will attend.
Students will have the opportunity to meet and speak directly with representatives from all the main Irish universities and colleges, as well as many from the UK, Europe and further afield. Over the course of their visit, and subject to seating availability, students will also be able to take part in lecture sessions on topics ranging from the CAO application process to studying in Europe, and in sessions about a wide variety of careers ranging from engineering, nursing, IT and agriculture to science and design.
Main Lecture sessions bring speakers from a number of organisations and institutions to offer advice and information about the applications processes to third-level education in Ireland, the UK and Europe.
It is planned to bring students on a tour of Google on the way home.
Information on Summer camps open to 5th year students in UCD, Maynooth, NUIG, Athlone IT, UL, UCC, IT Tallaght (free) and IT Carlow is available in the Guidance lobby.
Maynooth Computer Science Summer Camp
The Computer Summer Camp for students aged 13-18 years old in June/July every year. It was created to allow students to explore computer science concepts and to try out new technology whilst having fun and making friends. It is a great chance for anyone who is thinking of studying computer science to try it out in a way that is both educational and entertaining. It is also a great opportunity for anyone wanting to try out something new.
The camp assumes no prior experience and will involve activities both on and off the computer that will allow the students to explore a broad range of areas of computer science. Students can sign up for 1, 2 or 3 weeks as each week will be packed full of different activities. Every week we will have at least one session based around the following themes:
- Problem solving with logic games
- Make a website
- Discover what it takes to create multimedia
- Control a robot
- Create a computer game
- Learn to program
- Experience what it’s like to be a maker

Week 2: 02nd July - 06th July
Week 3: 09th July - 13th July
Times 9.30 a.m. - 1.00 p.m. Monday to Friday
We can offer your students a subsidised cost of €50 per week per student (non-subsidised rate €75 per week) on the Computer Science Summer Camp.
MU Summer Experience:
Maynooth University is known as a friendly and academically-challenging place to study. See for yourself why over 3,000 students choose this university annually for their undergraduate studies. MU Summer Experience takes place from 11-15 June 2018 from 9.30am-4pm daily. Please note this is a non-residential summer school.

The cost is £24 for 5 courses. For most courses, the deadline to send your application to UCAS is 15 January 2019 (except Cambridge, Oxford, medicine, Veterinary, Dentistry)
Students must write a Personal statement (maximum of 47 lines or 4000 characters) & reference required. Sort this early September at the latest.
Maynooth Awards

All CAT4 parents’ reports that were requested by Parents /Guardians of incoming 1st years have now been posted. It is hoped that the information in the reports will help support Parents /Guardians their son/daughter in their learning.
