Black History
Kildare Town Community School are celebrating Black History Month.
October is Black History Month but what is Black History Month?
- It was started in the USA in 1926 by the historian Carter G. Woodson.
- It is a way for the African diaspora to highlight Black achievement and Black excellence.
How can you celebrate Black History Month?
- You can tell your family, friends, or classmates about a Black icon from history that you have learned about.
- You can read about someone who has achieved amazing things like Christine Buckley or Fredrick Douglas.
- Look at those creating history now like Rhasidat Adeleke (Irish Sprinter) and Rotimi Adebari (Nigerian- born Irish politician).
