A busy start to the year for our Transition year students

TRANSITION YEARS

Our TY’s have had a busy few weeks back in school with numerous trips, activities, workshops and projects.

Have a look below at some of the different events that took place in an extremely busy few weeks back!

Team Bonding

Week one saw the arrival of Go Beyond Adventure, who came to the school to facilitate their team bonding day. Teamwork makes the dream work. They learnt that they can achieve so much through effective communication and cooperation during their team bonding day. In a team, everyone’s role may differ, but every contribution matters.

Sports Day

On the first Friday, we held our own TY Sports Day during P.E. class. There was plenty of healthy competition with the Tug of War rope.

School of Life Etiquette workshop

On Monday 13th, The TY Students learnt many valuable lifelong skills to help them with their social skills in life and in the workplace.

Work experience

Following on from their mock interviews & career guidance with Mr. O'Sullivan and Mrs. Urell, nearly all TY & LCA students have successfully found work placement. Well done to those students and we wish you the very best of luck.

Library Makeover

The whole TY group arranged and organised the school Library. This required a huge amount of work. Thank you to Mrs. Healy and Mrs. Coolahan for managing this. This initiative will help improve the community spirit of the school even further.

Bike 4 Life Fundraiser, Cycle against Suicide

Friday 10th was World Suicide Prevention Day. The TY group successfully cycled over 295 km and raised over €420 for Cycle Against Suicide. Thank you to this great year group and for the generous donations we received from staff, parents and students of KTCS.

Student Enterprise Programme - Whizzkids. Introduction to mini company

TY students were given a few tips on how to set up a successful mini-company. This will be one of a few workshops about their mini-company.

Breast Cancer Awareness Talk

TY’S received a talk on Breast Cancer Awareness . Inspiring words from some inspiring, brave and positive people. Thank you to Mrs Coolahan & Nicola Turley for helping raise awareness about Cancer.

Redhills

Thursday the 30th the TY students visited Redhills to do some fun activities that consisted of Airsoft combat games and Archery tag

Kildare Farm Foods

Students visited the local Kildare farm to see some very cute animals and eat some very tasty food.
