Educational Guidance
· 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 6th year students have all been given study timetables and advice on how to fill them. 2nd year will be given study timetables after mid-term. Following a structured timetable will allow students to make best use of their time and avoid wasting valuable time. Study skills will be explained to students at assemblies and will be displayed weekly on the website.
· All 1st year students have purchased a study folder to record brief summaries of their study as opposed to homework in every subject. Parents are being asked to supervise progression of notes in the study folder and to take an active interest in this work and thereby support their son/daughters learning.
· Sixty 3rd and 6th year students took part in the Study skills seminar with Student Enrichment services this term. They learnt study skills and feedback from the workshops was, as always, hugely positive.
· Many students have consulted with the GC on levels, requirements, points etc. before changing levels. It is policy in KTCS to encourage as many students to take Higher level subjects as they are able in order to maximise their chances to gain the higher points at leaving cert level.
Personal Guidance
· Positive mental health programmes encourage prevention of problems and participation as key elements in positive mental health. The school hosts a variety of activities to promote a positive, inclusive climate in KTCS.
· The KTCS wellbeing team are helping with and planning activities to promote well-being in KTCS. They have taken part in Mad October and the lunch time clubs. They are helping to arrange the Student / teacher Bake off in aid of Pieta House in November.

Students can make an appointment with any member of the care team which consists of the Principal, Deputy Principals, The Chaplain, Guidance Counsellor, year heads or resource teachers. The Chaplain and Guidance Counsellor will give the student an appointment slip which they present to the class teacher before attending.
