Here at KTCS we celebrated World Book Day on the 5th of March 2020. We had a variety of different activities on the day in order to create more awareness of the event and to promote literature in our school.
The school library was open at lunch to 1st year students who wished to read a book of their choice during lunch. There were sign up forms from the local library in Kildare Town available to students from all years in the library at lunch also.
We had a Drop Everything And Read during the day as well, where an announcement was made and all students had to stop what they were doing and read a book for 20 minutes. The teachers had posters on their doors displaying what books they were reading as well to demonstrate that reading is for all ages.
Overall we had a great day appreciating and learning about books and literature in our school.
Students who signed up for the local library were brought down to the Library on Wednesday, 11th March with Ms. Strong and Ms. Fennelly. A great trip was had by all.
