The deadline for scholarship applications to Maynooth University is April 1st 2019.

It is students’ responsibility to check scholarship deadlines with the individual colleges they intend to apply to.

  • Local Colleges of Further Education will address students next month. Students who are concerned about points can apply through the CAO & also for level 5 courses, many of which have linked progression to routes to IoT’s and Universities. Students applying for apprenticeships should be researching employers and registering with the professional bodies/ consortiums/ organisations in their chosen areas. A school trip to the Ireland Skills event in the RDS on March 21st where students will see competitions and demonstrations by Irish apprentices and trainees live before them. It is hoped this will give students insights into new third level options and career paths.

  • The Guidance Lobby is now festooned with colourful displays from the Colleges Speed dating event in December and pictures of our past pupils who are attending colleges in Dublin, Galway, Cork, Carlow, and Waterford contribute to the sense of history and pride in our school.

5th Years

Twenty 5th year students and LCA1 students have continued their participation in the Schools and Business Partnership programme in association with Kildare Village. Students had a site visit where they say behind the scenes at KV. They also met some professionals working at KV in the areas of Marketing, Brand management, Law, IT, Interior Architecture, Visual Merchandising, HR amongst others. These talks opened a variety of career areas for the students and gave them insights and a chance to engage with career professionals with a huge amount of experience in a variety of disciplines.

The students then did a course in Hospitality Skills where they learnt the vital skills necessary in any future role. They will each receive a certificate in Hospitality skills at the end of the programme.

Feedback from the students was hugely positive. They could really see the benefit of their learnings to help them in their personal and vocational development.

Personal Guidance

Over 700 Euro was donated by the students of the school at the fund raising for Pieta House and The Samaritans Newbridge as part of the KTCS Bake Off in December. A huge thanks you to the Well being team (now wearing their new Black & Gold badges) and also to Dan Mc Cormack, Killian Flood, Katie Fewings and Niamh Hopkins who came into school at 7.45 to collect the donations from the students and staff. The cheque was presented to the Samaritans on 23-01-2019 and they were hugely grateful for the support received (see pictures attached).
